Southport Engineering Associates has been a leading provider of mechanical and electrical engineering solutions for the built environment since 1996. Our services cover multiple market sectors, and we have a strong presence in hospitality (including restaurants), commercial, residential, educational, light industrial, and religious buildings. We are highly flexible in our approach, and we adapt readily from conventional design-bid-build construction to other project delivery vehicles including design-build. Our geographic reach extends throughout the United States, and we have consulted on a wide range of international projects extending into the Caribbean and Central/South America.

OUR STORY

Southport Engineering Associates was established in 1996 by Ken Mackenzie P.E., initially focusing on providing consulting advisory services to building owners and operators. Word of mouth quickly spread, and the firm was soon inundated with Owner's Representation and Project Management work for a wide range of building infrastructure investments. Michael Fabrizi P.E. and Walter Williams P.E. joined the firm soon after to bolster its in-house engineering design capabilities in the electrical and mechanical areas. William J. Urban P.E. rounded out the firm's turn-key MEP capabilities when he joined Southport several years later.

In its early years, Southport established its reputation as a leading provider of engineering consulting services targeted at the repair and renovation of mechanical and electrical systems in existing buildings. By providing these services directly to owners, asset managers, and developers, Southport gained a fundamental understanding of the business needs of its clients, enabling its team to deliver targeted and effective engineering solutions. Over the past several decades, the team at Southport has expanded to include over 20 professionals with specialties in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, plumbing, and fire protection. The firm's core services have also expanded to include newbuild construction, commissioning, and energy, all while maintaining the same client-facing focus that we were founded upon.

At Southport Engineering Associates, although our trade is engineering, our core business is providing strategic advice that is relied upon by decisionmakers to support targeted, informed capital investment into their assets. We have a successful track record of completing buildings, direct owner relationships, and zero claims history in our MEP construction completed.
