Our Mission

Founded in 1914, the Yale Science & Engineering Association (YSEA) proudly serves as one of the oldest university alumni organizations in the world. Our mission is to strengthen the Yale science and engineering community by connecting alumni with students, the University, and each other.

Who We Are

YSEA boasts a diverse membership base encompassing alumni, faculty, students, and friends with a shared passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). While approximately half of our members hold science or engineering degrees, our diverse membership extends beyond these disciplines, welcoming individuals from various backgrounds and disciplines.

What We Do

YSEA actively engages in diverse initiatives to:

1. Connecting People

• Fostering connections between alumni and students through mentorship programs, networking events, and outreach activities.
• Building a vibrant online community where members can interact and engage.
• Partnering with the University to facilitate collaborations and knowledge-sharing.

2. Promoting Excellence

• Providing financial assistance to students through research grants, prizes, and scholarships.
• Recognizing outstanding students, faculty, and alumni through special awards and prizes.
• Investing in initiatives that enhance Yale's STEM programs and reputation.

3. Communication and Engagement

• Disseminating relevant news and updates to members through newsletters, online platforms, and events.
• Creating engaging content that showcases YSEA initiatives, member achievements, and the impact of science and technology on society.

4. Creating Impact

• Working collaboratively to tackle societal challenges through science-driven solutions.
• Engaging in advocacy efforts to promote science and technology policy and funding.
• Building bridges between academia, industry, and government.
