Albertson Engineering Inc. has been a trusted provider of structural engineering solutions in the Black Hills and Great Plains since 1999. With a team of 9 licensed professional engineers, 1 EIT, and over 20 dedicated staff members, we have the expertise and resources to handle projects of any size. Over the years, we have grown from a small office in Rapid City with one engineer and one drafter to having three office locations and executing projects in over a dozen states. Our offices are located in Rapid City, Sioux Falls, and Winner, SD. We are registered to provide our services in 15 states, including South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Missouri, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Georgia.

Structural Engineering Design

At Albertson Engineering, we offer complete structural design services for a wide variety of projects. Our team is well-versed in the unique design challenges of our region, such as wind loads, snow loads, and variable soils. We work closely with our clients from the early stages of design through construction to ensure that projects meet or exceed expectations. Our expertise in structural engineering design allows us to create structures that can withstand the environmental conditions of our area.

Award-Winning Design Firm

Albertson Engineering is proud to have received multiple awards for our designs and staff. The South Dakota Engineering Society has recognized our firm on several occasions for being part of the design team for their Project of the Year. Recent honors include the Arc of Dreams, a monumental stainless-steel arc-shaped sculpture spanning the Big Sioux River in Sioux Falls, and the Dignity of Earth and Sky, a 50-ft sculpture of a Native American woman overlooking the Missouri River in Chamberlin, SD. The latter received the prestigious Champion of Architects Award from the South Dakota Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

Investigation and Analysis

Our experienced staff is equipped to investigate and analyze existing structures to identify structural engineering issues and recommend repairs. When structural issues arise, we focus on determining the root causes. We identify what caused the damage, why it is occurring, and how it happened. After answering these questions, our team helps clients decide on the most cost-effective and safe repair or action plan. We utilize technology such as ground-penetrating radar (GPR) to identify underlying conditions and provide regular monitoring of existing conditions.
