Thompson Engineering

Thompson Engineering Company (TEC) has been providing environmental consulting and engineering assistance to state and local governments since 2005. Our background in solar-powered electronic sensors and GPS/AVL systems has enabled us to implement self-sustaining remote-controlled environmentally conscious decision systems. We have provided consulting assistance to Midwest state governments on waterway usage, chemical usage plans for ice and snow removal activities, and installed weather monitoring devices and traffic control devices for the motoring public. This expertise has led to two successful patent applications for solar-powered road closure and hazard warning systems.

Our Evolution

In 2007, TEC expanded into the fields of water and energy conservation engineering through the use of rain harvesting systems and solar-powered communications devices connected to various types of sensor suites. We have worked extensively with state governments, providing proof of concept demonstrations, pilot projects, and smaller-scale energy storage systems. Our engineers have also developed technologies around the GPS/AVL concept, working on protocols for mobile data platforms, designs for remote-controlled chemical systems for snowplows, and storm planning technologies for state and local governments.
