Who We Are
Texas Academy of Medicine, Engineering, Science and Technology (TAMEST) is a unique organization that brings together the brightest minds in medicine, engineering, science, and technology to foster collaboration, advance research, innovation, and business in Texas. Established in 2004 by the Honorable Kay Bailey Hutchison and Nobel Laureates Michael S. Brown, M.D., and Richard E. Smalley, Ph. D., TAMEST is composed of over 340 members, 8 Nobel Laureates, and 22 member institutions from the National Academies.
What We Do
TAMEST's mission is to advance research, innovation, and business in Texas by bringing together the state's top researchers, innovators, and leaders in medicine, engineering, science, and technology. We create a collaborative environment that fosters innovative ideas, accelerates high-risk, high-reward research, and promotes mentorship and professional development.
Awards
TAMEST honors outstanding achievements in innovation, research, and leadership through several awards, including the Edith and Peter O'Donnell Awards, Hill Prizes, Kay Bailey Hutchison Award, and Mary Beth Maddox Award and Lectureship. These awards recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to their fields, accelerated breakthroughs, and demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation.
