Engineering with Integrity, Service, and Innovation
Our Core Values
Here at Engineering Consultants, (EC) our work is guided by the core values of Integrity, Service, and Innovation. We firmly believe that integrity is paramount. It is the foundation upon which we build our relationships, our reputation, and the quality of our work. We strive to uphold the highest ethical standards in every project, ensuring transparency, honesty, and fairness in all our interactions.
Service is not just a buzzword for us; it's deeply ingrained in our culture. We see our work as a means to serve our clients, understanding their needs, and delivering solutions that exceed expectations. We believe that serving our clients involves more than simply completing a project; it requires active listening, clear communication, and a genuine commitment to finding the most effective and efficient solutions. This dedication to service shapes our personal character and strengthens the relationships we build with our clients.
Innovation is the lifeblood of EC. We are constantly seeking ways to improve our processes, leverage new technologies, and deliver cutting-edge solutions. We embrace change and are proud of our history of adopting new tools and methodologies. Whether it was our early embrace of computer-aided drafting in the 1980s, our pioneering use of 3D structural modeling in the 1990s, or our full adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the late 2000s, EC has consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation to better serve our clients.
Our History
EC has a rich history, dating back to the closing years of World War II. It began in 1962 with the vision of Max E. Coleman, a graduate of Kansas State University who had gained valuable experience working at various local engineering firms.
Coleman's firm laid the groundwork for EC's future success, building a reputation for quality and reliability. Just a decade later, in 1973, Duane Phillips joined the team, bringing his own expertise and vision. A few years later, Engineering Consultants was officially incorporated, marking a significant step in the firm's growth and evolution. In a remarkable display of forward-thinking, Phillips bought the company from Coleman and further cemented EC's commitment to innovation by being one of the first firms in the region to fully embrace computer-aided drafting in 1986.
EC continued to expand, broadening its licensing to encompass additional states and solidifying its position as a leading engineering firm in Kansas. In 2008, Brent Engelland took the helm as owner, ushering in a new era for the company while staying true to the core values established by Coleman and Phillips. Under Engelland's leadership, EC has continued to grow its client base and its team of talented professionals, all while upholding the unwavering commitment to Integrity, Service, and Innovation.
