Huron Engineering and Surveying, Inc. (Huron) is a locally owned business in Alpena, Michigan, that specializes in providing high-quality engineering, surveying, environmental, and materials testing services to Northern Michigan. Although officially established in March 2013, Huron is built on a foundation of decades of experience.

Our founding partners and professional staff previously collaborated at Wilcox Professional Services, LLC, where they built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional results. When Wilcox ceased operations in January of 2013, the talented team at Huron Engineering and Surveying came together to continue serving clients with the same dedication to excellence.

Our office maintains its location in Alpena, Michigan, signifying our commitment to the community and our long-standing client relationships. As a wholly owned local business, we take pride in being a valuable asset to our region, contributing to economic growth and development. We are also registered as a Small Business on the System for Award Management (SAM), ensuring we remain accessible and competitive in providing our services to both public and private sector clients.

Our team is led by Mr. Mark V. Herman, P.S., President, and includes other key management members such as Ms. Rebecca E. Rivard, P.E., and Ms. Kimberly S. Wallis-Burke. With many years of combined experience working on diverse multi-disciplinary projects, our staff possesses the knowledge and expertise to handle projects of all sizes. We are dedicated to delivering successful outcomes, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

We have a team of highly qualified professionals holding state licenses and certifications, encompassing a wide range of disciplines. Huron is proud to have:

• Three Licensed Professional Surveyors in the State of Michigan.
• One Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan.

Our commitment to employee development is unwavering. We encourage continuous learning and provide opportunities for professional growth through education and safety training programs. We require our team members working in environmentally regulated areas to be certified miners (MSHA) and Hazwoper trained (OSHA) to ensure the highest safety standards are met on every project.
