Quality, Innovation, and Community Engagement

The MORCOS Group, Inc., a woman-owned California corporation, was established in 2008 by Dr. Sherif Morcos, PhD, PE. Our mission is to deliver responsive and customized professional engineering, construction management, community outreach, and geographic information system (GIS) services, ultimately contributing to the efficient and high-quality execution of transportation, water, and wastewater infrastructure projects. Dr. Morcos, a seasoned professional with a background as a civil engineering professor at the University of Pittsburgh and a prolific author of technical engineering publications, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the forefront of our operations.

In 2013, the esteemed Honorable Beata Draga Morcos, appointed by then-Governor Jerry Brown as a California State Commissioner and former Executive Director and CEO of the Black American Political Association of California (BAPAC), joined The MORCOS Group as President and CEO. Her extensive experience in government, strategic planning, business development, public relations, and civic affairs has proven invaluable in guiding the company's growth and success.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is reflected in our certification as a Disadvantaged, Small, and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (DBE/SBE/WBE), with our headquarters strategically located in the heart of Los Angeles, California. This geographical positioning allows us to effectively serve our clients throughout the state and beyond.

What We Do

We offer an extensive range of services designed to enhance the design, construction, and implementation of critical infrastructure projects.

  • Engineering Design Review: Our team of expert engineers meticulously reviews plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for new complex highway, pedestrian, and railroad bridges, grade separations, intersection improvements, light and heavy rail, automated people mover (APM) systems, and seismic retrofit and rehabilitation of historic bridges. We ensure that designs adhere to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and sustainability.
  • Quality Control & Constructability Review: We conduct comprehensive quality control reviews, identifying potential issues and ensuring that designs are constructible and adhere to relevant codes and regulations. Our Constructability Reviews focus on minimizing construction risks and ensuring project efficiency.
  • Value Engineering: We leverage our expertise to identify opportunities for cost savings and improved value without compromising the quality or integrity of the design. Through value engineering, we strive to deliver optimal solutions that meet project objectives while maximizing client resources.
  • Construction Management: We provide expert construction management services for transportation infrastructure and public works projects. Our portfolio encompasses a wide range of projects, including bridges over congested freeways and rivers, seismic retrofit and rehabilitation of historic bridges, roadways, highways, freeways, and intersection improvements.
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS): The MORCOS Group is a leader in GIS and information technology, developing complex master geodatabases, spatial analysis and modeling, web GIS applications, and advanced spatial statistics. We utilize Esri solutions, from ArcGIS Desktop to ArcGIS Online, ArcSDE, and integrate GIS with key business systems for asset management, supervisory control and data acquisition, and vehicle location systems.
  • Community Outreach & Public Engagement: We specialize in building strong relationships with communities through effective communication strategies. Our team simplifies complex technical information, creating clear and concise educational programs that keep the public informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Third-Party Coordination: With over 20 years of experience on City of Los Angeles projects and extensive collaborations with various City Departments, the County of Los Angeles, Caltrans, and Metro, we excel in providing focused third-party coordination and permitting services. Our expertise streamlines the project delivery process, ensuring safe and quality execution.
