Gas Turbine Engine Lab

Gas turbine engines are continuous flow internal combustion engines that rely on hot gas to spin a turbine and produce power. Ideal for applications where weight is a concern due to their high power-to-weight ratio, gas turbine engines are most commonly associated with aircraft propulsion but are also widely used in power generation and industrial applications.

Our Minilab Gas Turbine Engine Lab is a cutting-edge educational tool designed to teach students the intricacies of gas turbine technology in a classroom setting. Gas turbine engines consist of three crucial components: a compressor, a combustion chamber, and a turbine. As air enters the engine through an air inlet, it is compressed by the compressor, increasing its pressure and temperature. Fuel is then injected into the compressed air in the combustion chamber, where it is burned to create hot, high-pressure gas. This gas expands through the turbine, generating energy that spins a shaft, resulting in power for various applications.

Gas turbine engines offer several advantages, including generating significantly more power for their size and weight compared to reciprocating engines. Gas turbines reach full power rapidly, making them suitable for situations requiring quick response times. They can also be operated using different fuels, including natural gas, diesel, and renewable alternatives, for environmentally-friendly solutions. Gas turbine engines require less maintenance and offer lower operating costs due to their simple design and fewer moving parts compared to reciprocating engines.

At Turbine Technologies, we are proud to offer a free catalog for interested educators and students to explore the full range of our innovative laboratory equipment. Our 37-year history of excellence in manufacturing and commitment to STEM education make us a trusted partner in empowering the next generation of engineers and technologists.
