Dr. Sandra Soto-Caban brings over 25 years of expertise in higher education to her role as Associate Professor of Engineering and Chair of the Physics and Engineering Department at Muskingum University. Her journey began in Puerto Rico, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez. Driven by her pursuit of knowledge, she ventured to Michigan State University, where she earned her Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering, specializing in applied electromagnetics.

Dr. Soto-Caban's commitment to fostering a passion for engineering in her students is evident in her approach to teaching. She firmly believes that learning is a dynamic process that extends beyond the confines of the classroom. She strives to create an environment where students are active and engaged participants in their own learning journey, recognizing that each student's experiences and learning styles are unique and should be respected.

Dr. Soto-Caban's research interests reflect her dedication to both theoretical advancements and real-world applications in electromagnetics. Her work explores a range of topics, including electromagnetic scattering and nondestructive evaluation, electromagnetic wave propagation and scattering, and the electromagnetic properties of materials. This research not only contributes to the scientific understanding of electromagnetics but also equips students with valuable research skills and insights into cutting-edge applications.
