At Vector Engineering Inc, we pride ourselves on being a multi-disciplinary civil engineering firm with roots tied to Olympia, Washington, and established by owner Ben Cook in 2001. Our firm has remained open and strong through the recession, moving our main office to Tumwater, WA, and expanding to add a satellite office in Elma in 2014 to service Grays Harbor County and beyond.

Our Services

Our team is dedicated and comfortable with collaborating on projects with other firms and our client's project managers to optimize our client's projects. Our services range from civil engineering for commercial, factory, and institutional clients to structural design functions, bridge and hydraulic engineering, construction engineering, and building and facility assessment and capital improvement planning.

Civil Engineering

Our civil engineering services include site plans and permitting, which involve mostly civil engineering for commercial, factory, and institutional clients. Projects range from simple road and access designs to multiple phase site plans with difficult utility and drainage issues.

Structural Design

Our structural design services include low-rise buildings, retaining walls, buttresses, deep foundations (pile and pier), and flood control structures. We have worked for large contractors and vendors to help approve bidder-designed portions of infrastructure work.

Bridge and Hydraulic Engineering

Our bridge projects include rural highway and road, forest road, and small private land bridges, as well as recreation bridges for DNR and other conservation groups. We have inspected, designed, and permitted bridges throughout the Olympic Peninsula and I5 Corridor.

Construction Engineering

Our construction engineering services include temporary detour bridges, deep excavation safety designs, stream bypass design, erection plans, and demolition plans for buildings, trestles, and bridges. This work is temporary in nature but nonetheless necessary for successful projects.

Building and Facility Assessment and Capital Improvement Planning

Our services also include building and facility assessments, structural and building safety reviews, utility and drainage issues, and capital improvement planning. We are often tasked to review facilities and grade the infrastructure for capital improvement planning.

Our Team

Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional service to our clients. Our team members, including Ryan Moore, PE, Benton Cook, PE, and Kyle Freeman, PE, have extensive experience in civil engineering, project management, and construction. They bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every project, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible service.

Reviews
Positive: Vector's engineering services have been praised for their excellent work and timely completion of projects.
Negative: Some reviewers have expressed concerns about Vector's drivers on the road, while others have had negative experiences with the company's engineering services, citing issues with professionalism and competence.

Driver Safety Concerns

Some reviewers have expressed concerns about the safety of Vector's drivers on the road. One reviewer, Chance Loban, reported a close call with a Vector truck on I-94, which nearly collided with their semi-truck.

Engineering Services

On the other hand, Vector's engineering services have received mixed reviews. Concerned Citizen of the United States praised the company, stating that they are the best engineering company they've worked with, and specifically highlighted Ryan's excellent work and timely completion of projects.

Unprofessionalism and Incompetence

However, another reviewer, Brad Smith, had a very negative experience with Vector. He described the company as the "worst, most unprofessional engineering firm" he's encountered. He cited issues with the project coordinator and Engineer 1, who was consistently late to meetings, seemed hungover, and was unwilling to perform a crawlspace evaluation without a "moon suit". Smith also criticized the lack of preparedness, as the engineer did not bring necessary tools, and felt that the final report was a rip-off of another's work.
