Balancing Economy and Ecology for Sustainable Engineering Designs

At Global Engineering and Materials, Inc. (GEM), we are a high-tech firm that provides innovative research and development, consulting services, and software solutions to the National Defense, commercial industries, and government and university research laboratories. With a strong focus on computational mechanics of materials and structures, multiphysics coupling between fluids and structures, damage and failure characterization, physics-informed design optimization, and software development, we strive to deliver unique software solutions and engineering services that meet the complex needs of our clients.

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to develop innovative software solutions and leading-edge research services in computational mechanics, multiphysics modeling and simulation, advanced materials and structures, and multi-disciplinary coupling for process optimization to complex challenges in high-technology markets. Our vision is to be a premier, total technology solutions provider for the DOD and commercial industries. We aim to earn the lasting trust of our clients by responding to their immediate needs using our extensive expertise and providing our physics-based solutions to their challenging problems.

Our Services

At GEM, we deliver a wide range of services, including:

  • Multiphysics Simulation: We provide advanced multiphysics simulation services that enable our clients to analyze complex phenomena, such as fluid-structure interaction, thermal-mechanical coupling, and electromagnetic-thermal coupling.
  • Fracture & Fatigue Analysis: We offer advanced fracture and fatigue analysis services that help our clients to predict the lifespan and fatigue behavior of materials and structures under various loading conditions.
  • Advanced FEM: We provide advanced finite element method (FEM) services that enable our clients to analyze and simulate complex structural mechanics, thermal-mechanical coupling, and fluid-solid interaction.
  • CB2ATA: We offer the Composite Bolted and Bonded Analysis Toolkit for Abaqus (CB2ATA), a software solution that provides advanced analysis and simulation capabilities for bolted and bonded composite structures.
  • XFA3D Fatigue: Our XFA3D Fatigue software is designed to predict the fatigue crack growth and fracture of complex structures under various loading conditions.

Our Team

Our team consists of highly trained and experienced individuals, with around ninety percent of our technical staff holding a Ph. D. in engineering, material science, mathematics, and computer science. Our management team is led by Jim Lua, President and Chief Operating Officer, who has over thirty years of experience in conducting and directing research and development in computation fracture and damage mechanics, multiphysics coupling, and simulation.

Our Locations and Facilities

GEM has its primary working office in Princeton, New Jersey, with a total floor area of 1,844 square feet, equipped with offices, a conference room, and a server room. Our team is well-equipped with high-end personal computers and several Linux/Windows servers on a local area network (LAN). We also have a suite of in-house developed software for performing numerical simulations and post-analysis for various engineering applications.
